Visit the Nearest Cafe

Let me give you 10 reasons to come and visit us:

1. The breakfasts. Far and away our most popular plates of food, from the die hard "fry up" affectionado to the terminally hungover, we will try to fix you. Local butcher Bruce's award winning pork sausages, thick cut rashers, McCain's has browns (no onions), Heinz baked beans, chestnut mushrooms, scottish black pudding, juicy grilled tomatoes and as much tea as you can drink.

2. The omelettes. 3 free range eggs, not over whisked, evenly filled with your favourite toppings, and quickly cooked to perfection with crispy fluffy chips and beans or a dressed leaf salad. Some customers won't have anything else.

3. The burgers. Steak mince from our good friends at Bruce's butchers generously seasoned and rolled in the style of Heston Blumenthal to create a light and juicy texture, served in a toasted bap with the requisite chips. And because it's steak mince, you can go as rare as you dare.

4. The pancakes. Light and fluffy American pancakes served with maple syrup and anchor butter, best with crispy bacon on the side, although the blueberry or sultana and cinnammon are very popular too.

5. The porridge. As with most things at the Nearest, the porridge is made to order, again plain, blueberry or sultana and cinnammon all go well, and just like Goldilocks we want it to be just right.

6. The coffee. Mozzo coffee is 100% arabica, 100% fairtrade and 100% organic, and after they're wonderful training sessions we feel we can do it true justice. We have to, Mr Mozzo's mum and dad come in every now and again to keep us on our toes!

7. Our new luxury sandwich range. We are massive fans of the sandwich, as Joey Tribiani rightly knows, they are the best food. We have The New Yorker, the warm chorizo salad ciabatta, the homemade meatball baguette, our ever popular lemon and herb chicken wrap and we've even started making our own flatbreads to go with the own recipe falafels.

8. The childrens menu. We know what kids expect when they go to a cafe, chips chips and chips please. But we can also provide you with the famous sausages, standard fish fingers or our home made chicken nuggets, proper chucks of breast, not processed and reformed thank you. Or the mini breakfast is a popular call: 1 bacon, 1 hash brown, beans, 1 fried egg and a bit of toast.

9. The service. All we want is to make sure you eat well and happily, and we will do whatever it takes to do that. We are lucky enough to have a majority of regular customers and we get to know all of them, and their likes and dislikes. From our good friends Ian and Shannon to the newly appointed "real butter man" we will first know you by what you eat and how you like it and move on from there. Have a quick look at the customers page and see if you can work out who's you.

10. The garden. A secret sun trap with a little playhouse for the children, although I have more than once gone out and seen parents in there.
